I have an extra set of rear Koni sports with about 30k miles on them. Problem is I have no fronts to match.
Now on with a flurry of ideas and questions - Recognizing that these used rears will be somewhat softer than a brand new set, would I be mistaken to buy new Koni sport fronts and pair them with the used rears? Or maybe I should buy brand new Koni regular (red) shocks for the front since they are about 20% software then the Koni sports out of the box, thereby somewhat balancing the wear on the Koni sports? Or should I rely on the adjustment of the Konis to compensate for the wear? Problem I see with this is the Koni adjustment is for rebound only, not compression. Or should I quit being such a cheap bastard and just go get 4 new shocks? How long do Konis last? Chuck ------------------ '86 Cab, '77 Targa, Family Truckster |

Clark,
Believe that you will not notice a big difference in Koni shocks out of the box or with 30K on them. If you are really worried, take the rubber bumper out of the top of the shock, turn the "adjuster" a bit from the standard setting and stiffen them up a bit. Pls remember to replace the rubber after making them tigher. Koni and Bilstein shocks are made to last hundreds of thousands of miles, and unless they has been on a car running the Paris-Dakar rally, 30k is not enough to worry about. IMHO.. Buy a new set of fronts. How stiff depends on whether you want your CD to work! ![]() JoeA |

Clark, I am about to have installed, some koni sports on the rear next week , so I will let you know how they work.
Standard alround are black boge. So fronts will be left standard for the moment. |
