bad afm
I have been having problems with my 86 3.2. Bucking at low rpms, hard to keep running when started up cold, popping out of the exhaust, popping into intake eratic idle and bad gas mileage. I think thats about all that COULD be wrong!
I pulled the AFM to check it out. Checked the voltage coming to it (4.34v). When I checked the resistance on terminals 2 & 3. It was dead all the way across except for at both ends. I even checked the resistance right at the arched contact and there was nothing there. Everything inside looks fine. Is there a fix for this other than a rebuild/replace? You could try cleaning the thing with some electronic parts cleaner. It won't last as long, but a Pelican poster who has a shop told me I could do this with my Boxster unit to get by.
