Front End "Chirping"

My car has developed an annoying "chirp" in the front end somewhere. I can hear when I'm driving, and when the car is stopped and the engine off, if I push the corner of the car and rock it, I can hear the chirps as well.

No evidence of a wayward bird. :D Is this the symptom of the front-end bushings needing replacement?

Thanks guys.

Sounds like the bushings are getting a little hard and have been compressed. The torsion bar then starts to contact the torsion bar tube and squeaks.

You may want to check out Burgermeister's post "Front LCA Bushings". I tried it on my '76 a few months ago and couldn't be more pleased. The procedure required no new parts and eliminated the chirping as well as improved ride quality.
