Just finished e mailing a fellow early 911 guy. We both admit to going out to the garage in order to just look at our cars. Now my fellow enthusiast has an excuse, he's only owned his car for 11 months or so. Me? I brought her home in 1974. I mean, it's not like the car is going to change colors overnight or anything. Still, more frequently than I really care to admit, I find myself going to the garage, taking the cover off the car, firing up a stogie. Then I park my butt on the workbench, just sit there and LOOK. Should I call Dr. Laura?

I grow weary of looking at the same girl for very long, but I always look at my Porsche several times per day and still can't get enough. My head spins when I see a 911 on the road.
I won't tell anyone about you though. david 89 turbo cab |

Just as well, I see this in all of us that own these 911's. Last week, as I was taking a long ride home in My 71 Turbo look, I noticed across the median of the 4 lane highway--a white 90's Carrera. By the time my eye caught the car, I noticed the guy was waving..........Hmmm.....

Thank goodness I'm not the only one who does this!!!! Seriously, my neighbors must think I'm nuts. Everytime I detail the car, I will just sit there and stare at it from various angles (almost like an artist studying his subject). This stare can last for a couple of hours!
My wife DEFINITELY thinks I'm nuts for doing this. Even when we go out to eat, I will park my Porsche where I can see it (and the stare continues!). Btw, I've had my car for 3 years. Rich '86 Carrera |

Blame it on the Stogies, to make it really credible; take along a beer.
The real sign of being odd is when you move your favorite chair to the garage as well. This message is being posted from my favorite chair, stogie in hand..... Cheers, Mrdi |

I hope your are feeling better and have cleaned the dead California bugs off! Yea, I play the, that car in the drive way is mine and it is cool game too. I hope I can sill carawl do the garage when I have had my car as long as you, old friend.
Been getting to drive the slut, the choker setter thinks we should take her to a church near here for a photo session, then change her name from "Slut" to " Harlet" sounds more soft. I still like "Iris", Sue says "Flower", what do you think, Paul? Most folk who have an early 911 have them cause they love that special "LOOK". The 911 or the wife nude, it's a toss up as to which is nicer. Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Randy Jones 1971 911 Remember Paul my car is stll older than yours |

I prefer the rear ends. Almost every model especially early ones. I've always been an ass man and PORSCHE's have the best ass.

Sometimes actions speak even louder than typed confessions. I took my camera out with the car today, got back and looked at the camera and learned that I'd taken 85 pictures of the car.

Yeah I do that too. My neibour is a retired SIS guy (in our country the SIS are our spies) and he thought it was a bit odd there was a shaddowy figure sitting in my 911, out on the street, in the middle of the night. Then realised it was me. He said the next day he thought it was very odd. But I guess you are either a 911 person or you're not.

Never have I felt selfconscious about admiring the curves of my P cars. Now that so many have confessed to this, I realize the importance of being able to settle back and revere in the visuals of curves. Yes, that is an important part of our being and I'm going to really take time to drink in all those curves that I really like. The P cars don't look back at you and wonder what you are doing. So next time I am with my sweetheart, I am going really drink her all in. If she displays any kind of uncomfort, I'll just explain how much I love my P car and how I enjoy its curves, but I'd much rather lavish my gazes on her!
The report back is going to take some time as I am currently in the middle east. Diverdan |

Trying to find a "reason" for the looking in the garage obsession, I began to do some history.
I think the problem goes back to those college days. For me, I have cloudy memories of my buddies and me sitting around drinking saying "Here's to short term memory" pause, "Here's to short term memory" pause, "Here's to short term memory". Due to the amount of grey matter that has been liquidfied in my earlier days, I feel the need to also check status of my car as it sits in the garage.
