Post So much detail...

...you can tell I didn't vacuum.

The new camera takes better pictures than the video camera did. You can see the new, unsubtle look for Black Beauty -- more aggressive-looking seats and the rollbar, too.

And click here for the just-moderately larger version.

The roll bar:

In a currently-running post about Porsche-obsession-syndrome, I confessed to taking 95 pictures of my car today. Turns out, the number is 145. I think that qualifies as pretty far gone.

Cool

Jack
The pictures are both sharp and big. Seems like a nice camera.

Your seats look very fine. What brand are they? Looks like racing seats, but seems to be fairly useable for everyday driving as well.

Question

Jack - very nice looking seats; they appear to be a nice compromise between street and DE seats. However, how are you handling the sub-belt(s) on your 5 or 6 point harness? Just curious.

That rollbar really hugs the headliner. Is that a DAS unit that bolts in without cutting any new holes? I see it is grabbing the rear seatback mount.

I wondered how you resolved the sub-strap dilemna, maybe you haven't yet. I talked to a guy who had the same problem. Instead of tying the strap down in front he ran it over the top of the seat and tied it to the floor behind the seat.

Essentially he was sitting on the sub strap, making a loop under his crotch, then through gap between seat base and back. If the strap is long enough I should think this would work, and doesn't seem like it would compromise the tender regions anymore than the standard position.

Oh yeah, now that you have the targas in how do you like them for comfort and support? They do look good in leather. I've been comparing seats including the targa and some of the other Corbeau seats. They have a model named "carrera" that I like, name not withstanding.

The interesting thing is... I've only got 2 keys on my Porsche key Fob. One is the OE ignition key, and the other is my house key. It looks exactly like yours... interesting.

Jack,
did you remove the original rubber cap of the interior light switch
(above the paint code plate) ?

Nice car!

It's been hard not to notice the progress your car has been making, or should I say the transition from a mild daily driver, to a track beast.

For what it's worth, I think that you may end up going a bit too far with this car, to have it comfortably streetable. I mean there's a joy of driving the very car you race, on the road. However a lot of people go overboard with their mods, and end up with a car that doesn't really satisfy the needs of either world. Not only that, but there's a bunch of money in the car by then. At the moment it looks fine, but you're probably going to want a full cage soon (that'll cost you $2k+ properly done), harnesses (don't you already have one?), etc. you get my point.

Track days in moderation is no problem, but once it gets out of hand, at the end a dual purpose car is always going to be compromise although some work quite well for few people, they're very rarely competitive, IF that's what you may be going for. If not though, -to me at least- your car seems to be a very nice dual purpose machine.

I've given up powersteering, gone with larger wheel/tires, upgraded the engine, put harder springs on, drop the car a few inches, etc. At the end I've put my car very near stock condition once again. (But now I want to modify it again?). I've considered stripping the interior, now I'm VERY glad I didn't do that on my current.

All I'm saying is, don't let your hobby take you over, not before it becomes your obsession!
Ahmet
