Don't have a manual to check but I'm looking to find out is what the minimum octane requirements are for a 3.0 w/ 9.3:1 compression?

In Mass. we can select from 87, 89, 91, 93 & 94 Octane on the street. I usually go with the 93, but I thought the US 3.2s & 3.0s could run on 91.

My 1982 911SC Manual says: Fuel Supply Regular, 91 RON (87 CLC on U.S. fuel pumps), gasoline, UNLEADED FUEL ONLY. If regular fuel of sufficient quality in not available, use high-octane fuel or mix regular with high-octane fuel. In Oregon, I use premium fuel which i believe is 91 on the pump label and have no problems.

gas has become crap to start with. 911 upper cylinder areas is inadequately cooled imho. unless your using digital data acquisition use only high test. Grady posted some great info on engine monitoring CHT probe placement

+1 Its a little depressing. We can build and tune the snot out our toys but we'll always be limited by the fuel that is available. Here is a good thread on Rennlist: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/showthread.php?t=419556&highlight=octane If I were you, I wouldn't use anything less than the best gas I could buy for my Porsche. The difference in price is negligible. Have you ever seen a piston with a hole burned in it from low octane gas that detonated?
