While cleaning the oil screen on my 1970 911T (2.2), there were about 6 small metal parts stuck to the magnet. The appear to form a 1.5" circle although there weren't enough parts to complete a full circle. They were rust colored and looked fairly old. It looks like a metal seat of some sort. Any idea on what this could be? They are very small in size with the largest chunk being 1" long. The last time the oil was changed, I also had the tensioners upgraded at the same time, so I wonder if some old part fell into the engine and made it's way to the metal strainer.
Also, about 7 quarts of oil drained from the engine and only 4.5 quarts from the oil tank. Unfortunately I changed the oil while the engine was cold because I have the car on stands while I am completing the brake rebuild. Does this seem correct to have so much oil drain from the engine? Thanks, Dan |

Cannot identify your parts w/o a picture I guess.
Concerning the amount of oil, this looks totally OK. Remember, that the oil pump is pumping oil back in the tank, filling it up (therefore, check oil level only with warm engine running). When cold, oil is accumulating at the lowest part of the engine, which is basically the sump. Jens |

Dan,
How about posting a pic of the pieces on the list so someone can try to identify them? Might help... JA |
