Help!
I am trying to retrofit an 84 fender mounted oil cooler onto a 70 which does not have one. Apparently the oil lines are different sizes. The only piece of the puzzle I am missing is a way to connect the larger female fitting on the line from the thermostat to the smaller male fitting on the oil tank. Has anybody done this? Where can I get an adapter? I have tried local hydraulic shops with no luck. Thanks! BK |

I haven't done this myself. However Earls Plumbing has been making oil cooler fittings for years. I don't havew a web site but call some performance shops or checks out their web page. Hope this helps.

Gentlemen,
Thanks for the help. Unfortunately both were dead ends. Neither place had the part I needed. Somebody please confirm or correct this, but I believe I need a female to male adapter, 26mm female and 30mm male. The 26mm female would screw on to the oil tank outlet, and the 30mm male would accept the female fitting on the oil line from the thermostat. It looks like I might need to buy a newer oil tank. I'm not giving up yet so if anybody has any suggestions, please email me! Thanks, BK |

Go to Hoseandfittings.com. They should have what you need. Steve |

BK911,
The early oil tanks had a smaller opening (26mm) than later tanks. I purchased an adapter from Otto's in Venice, CA to finish my conversion. It was custom made from existing oil line parts. About $25 a few years ago. Sherwood Lee http://members.rennlist.org/911pcars |
