Help location reverse light switch - G50

Hello-

I can't seem to find how to gain access to my reverse light switch on an 88 911 cab with a G50.

I had it on a lift 2 days ago, and couldn't see it, so today I opened up the access panel between the rear seat floor boards.

Here is a pic with some wiring. Some of it looks like it has been hacked and repaired. I was going to pull of the tape and fix these connections, if they are indeed for the reverse light switch. Can anyone ID the wiring in here?

Also, and leads on how to access the switch are greatly appreciated. I had the clutch replaced a year ago, and I am guessing they never reattached the wiring to the switch. They were clearly jackasses, as the forgot to reattach my axle as well. No kidding. It fell of 300 miles later.

Thanks in advance!

Should be on the left side of the transmission housing, towards the front of the car IIRC.

I have seen some pics on this forum with the tranny out, and this appears to be the case. However, from under the car, I can't find it.

Should it be apparent / visible from under the car, or do I need to pull something off to get to it?

Thanks.

Mike

Look up behind the transmission mount. Maybe its the passenger side now that I think of it. Look for the ground strap and the wire is nearby. In your picture above I believe it is the thinner wire at upper right that passes thru the body.

Don't look in the tunnel. crawl under the car and look at the LH side of the trans. It's between the half-shaft and the trans mount. It's very easy to access, and very easy to damage. Try sliding the boot up the wires, and then pull the two individual plugs from the switch itself.

The arrow in the photo below points to the switch.
