Question Any one have late model cup wheels on an SC?

I need to know what spacers to buy, I belive that the 1" and 2" will do the trick but looking for advice.

Also, with these wheels, max tire size at euro spec and rolled fenders. What would you guess on the tire size and asp ratio?

7.5X17 and 9X17 wheels

I have 7.5 and 9 x 17 on my SC. My car has a turbo look however. I used no spacers in the front and 1" in the back. I doubt very seriously that the wheels would fit on a stock SC body.

I have the cup II wheels on a carrera. Same dimension as you are describing.

I have 17x7 and 17x9. These are 993 factory takoffs.

check it out -

http://www.cheaterswayside.com/uploads/rearquarter308.JPG

I have 245/40 on the rear. Used to have 255/40 and they do clear, but the diameter is a little bigger than stock. The 255s are in the pictures.

I have 205/50 up front, had to roll the fenders. These too are a little taller than stock, I plan on replacing with 215/45. I think these will fit.

The spacers I bought where about 27mm front and 36mm rear. This was the calculated value, I bought the closest size I could find to this, I believe from Automotion. These worked for me.

Seems that some people have more space for the fronts than me. There is significant variation from car to car. Mine are very tight, even the factory wheels rubbed a little on the inner wheel well.

I would suggest you take very carefull measurements for your car and compute the spacer requirements. Use my spacer values only as a sanity check.

Chuck,

Thanks, that is exacly the whell I am refering to!

How would one go about mesuring the proper backspace needed?

How did you do this.

I had heard that it was 1" in front and 2" in the rear, but was unsure.

Thanks again

Clark,

I have an '83SC Cab with 6's and 7's. Been pursuing buying a pair of 8's or 9's (fuchs at reasonable price/I know I am dreaming!)for the back with no success.

Looking at takeoff options like yours! Any input on your takeoffs? Price? etc.

Appreciate it!

Cab,

I actualy bought two sets of the 993 wheels, just like Chucks.

I was goint to use one set as a track set, but I think I might use the Fuchs as that set.

They cost me $700, if you are interested let me know.

Sorry, I just saw this topic. Yes I have a set of C2 replica rims on my car. Love the way they look...

If you get in tuoch with a place like Wheel Enhancement, they can answer all of your questions. If I remember right, the replica wheels already have the proper offset for Carreras and SCs. I believe i was told that the real C2 rims have a diferent bolt pattern or offset.
If you go with the aftermarket wheels...you don't need to buy spacers. If your car is lowered (in the front) you might have to roll the fender lips a bit to keep from rubbing.

Here's a pic of my car

I paid $900 for mine, they came with tires with some tread. $700 is a great price, I'd jump on that if they are in good shape.

Plus the spacers will be another $400.

If you go aftermarket you don't need the spacers, but the aftermarket are cast and much heavier. I actually bought a set of the mille miglia knock offs first. They didn't fit my car, the fronts weren't even close to clearing. I sent them back.

If you go take offs, you have real Porsche wheels with quality comparable to Fuches.

These are supposed to be in great shape, with tires that have better than 50% tread.

They also come with crested center caps, they are take offs from a tire shop.

Any how. Let me know. If he does not want them, they are open to anyone else.

They are due here by tuesday, I will snap some pictures when they come in.

I will take the less perfect set, I am sending them out to be powdercoated black anyway.

I have 993 wheels on my 83 SC....I run the 2 inch spacers on the rear and 1 inch up front. 16x7.5 with 205s, 16x9 and 245s on the rear. Tight fit on the right side due to the oil lines. Any bigger tire may require a bit more spacing on the rear at least....

Here's a pic at a recent autocross. The wheels have been powdered coated black. I actually won my class and used the bunny eared helmet.....8^)

Here's an earlier shot with silver stock color...I use Pagid brake pads and they throw a LOT of dust....got tired of wiping the damn things down all the time, plus I was able to get rid of the curb rash from the previous owner. I paid $600 for all four wheels with Bridgestone SO1s on them....$300 for the spacers.

I was able to sell the 16x6 and 7s for $900....so I got a pretty good deal.

Well, the wheels and tires have arived...

They look great, including Enamel center caps and tires (dunlop 8000's) with tons of tread to wear off...

So I will select the set I want to keep, the other set will be on the blocks for sale for some lucky soul!

Mine are off to the powder coater to get subdued.. (black that is)

Let me know if you are interested...
