Gas Guage Sending Unit
My gas guage has been reading erractic lately so I pulled the sending unit for a cleaning.
Took it apart and found some varnish on the float slides. Checked guage out of the tank got great readings. Put it back in and bolted down what I thought was OK. No readings. Removed several times OK out of tank. Put it back no readings Finally got it to work back in the tank if I barely tightened the nuts. What would cause the unit not to read if the nuts were tightened more than they are now????? BTW did replace the gasket |
bad ground or bad signal wire?
if tight = no sliding, seems there would still be a reading (tho static) |
