Your alternator will not fit.

The housing will fit your car. It just needs to be used with the early alternator.

Your alternator is not interchangeable without major modification to the housing.

You can tig weld your cracked housing for less money and headache than replacing it. Call up a mobile welder and they will come on over and take care of you.

David:

My '84 has the same alternator and fan housing as yours. On mine, 3 of the 4 vanes had cracked, almost all the way through. I pulled it on Sunday, and thought it was beyond repair. I had to try to save it though. I took it to a guy who says he can weld anything.

I got it back this morning. It looks really really rough, but it's solid. I am thinking about filing away some of the glop weld material and then having it glass bead blasted. I'm not sure how much is safe to remove though.

Anyway, I can post pictures if you want. It cost me about $180 so far vs $500 for the Vertex one, which I understand has some fitment issues. At this point, I know my old fan housing is fixed, it will fit back perfectly, and I am wrestling with costmetic and air flow questions.
