Brake calipers rebuild shop time?

How long should it take a shop to clean and replace the seals on four Carrera 3.2 brake calipers?

Is there a book rate? I already removed them, sprayed them with brake cleaner to get the big stuff off.

I assume they would remove the pistons & seals, wash them, reinstall the rings, pistons, align pistons, and install the dust seals.

Opinions are appreciated.

I can't answer what the shop rate is but you already have done the hard part - rebuilding them is easy. Why not just DIY? I was amazed at how easy it is. The hardest part is removing them and reinstalling / bleeding them which you are ready are doing.

note: if you use compressed air to remove the pistons - keep your fingers out of the way!!

A lot of the shop time depends on how bad the corrosion is, and how nice you want them to look. PMB Performance generally has the castings chemically stripped and replated for that brand new look. If the pad area is corroded such that the pads do not move freely, or the outside portion of the bore is corroded such that the pistons do not move freely, then a lot of cleaning is required. Plating or painting can help keep the calipers working longer, as well as looking better.

Do you want a good job done, and looking like new?
Do you want it quick and dirty, and are willing to do it over and over again?

I just did my rear calipers. Once the caliper is out of the car, the steps of removing the pistons, replacing the seals and reinstalling the pistons couldn't be more than 15 minutes each. In fairness to the shop, I would think an hour would be reasonable assuming the corrosion is minimal, not affecting performance in any way. I am sure there is shop manual that gives a standard unit of time, but have no idea what they migh suggest. If you have an available source of compressed air, it is rather easy.
