#3 intake valve issue
I am doing a valve adjustment on my car.
On the intake valve with the #3 cylinder, there is no clearance available. I have completely removed the retaining nut. I tightened the retaining screw all the way (clockwise to tighten) until it will not turn. I then backed it off (counterclockwise) it will back off 4 full turns then will not turn any more. With it backed all the way off there is still no slack. It is still tight to the valve. Impossible to get the feeler gauge in and it will not even "jiggle" Exhaust valve is fine on this cylinder. (meaning I could adjust it.) What is wrong here? Please help Shawn

Did you compare the number of turns on other valves? It may not be the case, but a high valve indicates that the seat went bye-bye. No point in doing a compression test until you get the rocker pressure off the valve stem.

Is no. 3 cylinder at TDC, end of compression, i.e. both valves are closed? Distributor rotor should be pointing at no. 3 spark plug wire on the cap.
