Got your guage face on?? Its a black or white issue, you wouldnt understand...

Maybe its here in the depths of the archives but Ive got two different sets of 911 guages, one in stock black from a 23K pristene car or use a set of white face guages that came in a carrera parts car I bought. Dilemas, which one should I use??? Your opinions please?

depends - on a slant nose wide body carrera from the 80's feel free to use the while bling - on a normal car - keep em black.

I've sorta got the same dilemma....

When I "updated" my 73 long hood 14 years ago, I had North Hollywood Speedo do an excellent job making my gauges white with black numbers/needles and they removed silver buttons....the gauges look exactly like the ones in NHS's picture in their advertisements.

The quality of their work was excellent and this still shows but, I am now taking my car through a "back date" and wish that I didn't have the white gauges but that they were restored to their original black.

At some point, I'll call them and see what it'll cost to return the gauges to their originally glory.

I'd find somebody that wants the white faces, and swap gauges. Way cheaper than having the faces redone.

Yeah, your right.....the economics of that make the best sense....that'll be my first route to take.

In the event no one steps up when I post the trade, off to NHS they'll go!!

Is it just me or are the white faced gauges easier to see?

Personally, I love the Autometer Phantom series look - I did a custom dash on my '86 Monte Carlo with them when they first hit the market & Autometer had the pics on their website (pretty cool, like being "in print"). However, of all the 911's I've seen in pics / in person, only the newer "stacked" gauges seem to look better to me in lighter colors, the older ones not so much.

And yes, I've always found white w/ black letters to be easier to read, especially at twilight.

Why does it always have to be a black white thing?

Good decision
I like the white faces. I know it's personal choice.
