Do I need to replace my targa seal?

It is very noisy at freeway speeds, but does not leak water. I am going to have the top rebuilt, but am wondering if the front seal needs to be replaced also?

Hi Paul
Is it split or has it been cut to fit?
What year is the car?
The later models didnt fit the early one and sometimes have to be cut.
If you do need to get a new one, try Forest Fine they have a website and the rubbers for my car were a good fit with no cutting.
Mines a 83 Targa
hope it helps

Paul

Mine is in a worst condition than yours....and I got no noise from it. The old seal is now availlable from Performance Products....Catalog part number : 916180.

Paul, I'm not sure what year car you have but that doesn't look right. The seals I have seen are one piece. I would bet the noise is from those gaps. It also looks like someone installed beaded weatherstriping in front of the seal as a fix for leaking.

Thanks guys. Car is an '89 3.2 (see sig). I am most concerned by the gaps- as the drivers side one is wide. I have seen a seal on Ebay, item number: 280227141521. Would this fit, is it a good price, and how easy are they to install?

Cheers,

Paul.

This gap is very strange to me. I do have an 80 and the seal is different but I don't remember these gaps.

Thanks Tom. If someone can confirm that the seal on Ebay will fit, I'll swap them out.

Paul.
