What do you think of these plugs?
Pulled these plugs out of my '86 911 Turbo. Why the uneven pattern?
New NGK BP8ES plugs, MSD ignition, B&B Headers and exhaust. Recent top end within 1500 miles. Everything else stock. My LM1 says I'm running rich but I wonder if it is acccurate. ![]() ![]() |

Rick,
What you see is the effects of swirl in these combustion chambers and the offset plug position. ![]() I would tell you that judging plug color after the engine has idled for a moment is pretty worthless. The ONLY way to read spark plugs to assess fuel mixture is by performing a proper plug "cut" and thats done by holding a particular throttle position and RPM for several seconds in a higher gear, then switching off the ignition. That gives one a "snapshot" of fuel mixture, provided one is experienced and knowledge enough to interpret what you see. ![]() ![]() Unless one possesses those skills, I would rely on your LM-1 as long as its sensor is positioned properly and functioning.
