Restore plastic horn pad?
My SC horn pad is looking faded and the color is uneven. I am installing new leather on the steering wheel and would like to have the whole assembly look new. anyone successfully restored the plastic to a new look?

ill tell u a secret, get some plain old vasoline, smear it all over the plastic and let it sit for a few days. the plastic, which is petrolium based, will soak up the oil out of the vasoline, and when u wipe it off, yea, brand new shiny plastic, u dont have to armour it, it will stay shiny for a long time, the longer u let it sit, the more oil the plasic will absorb, no painting will be required, u can do this on any plastic trim and make it like new.

If one were to paint it, what would you suggest? A dye (rather?)
Best, Doyle

i would try the same dye i used for my orange heater control knobs but black. i think the brand was RIT. got it at the local drug store for $2 or something. ide probably boil some up and when not tooo hot, dip the pad in, assuming there are no rips in it...dont want it soaking up water. its a clothing dye
the vasaline trick sounds good too though
