SF Bay area mechanic to fit euro pre-muffler

Hi all,

I just bought a Dansk pre-muffler for my '87 Carrera. Thought I'd give it a go trying to fit it myself, but the bolts on the old cat are rusted tight and I am beginning to think the job is a bit beyond my competence level. I asked the guy who did my PPI but he is not willing to do the job. Any recommendations for someone in the Bay Area who can do this for me?

Thanks

Tom Amon - but only if you tell him the bolts seem to be badly rusted, that's fair.

How about one of these weekends, my garage. I assume you are not in a hurry.

There's a buddy right there - I would say the same thing but I'm afraid of messing up, and looks like yelcab1 is a good mechanic as I read his car list. I would install all new hardware - this usually involves at least one trip to OSH. Don't use SS with SS nuts. You might be able to reuse the gaskets... Now that you will be taking the bypass in and out every 2 years the hardware should not be a problem.

Make sure you look at the flange thickness before you buy new bolts. The old bolts are M8x40mm, but if the flange on your bypass is a little thinner, you might want 35 or 30.

I just wanted to save you an extra trip to the hardware store like I had to make !!

Thanks for all the advice guys.

Yelcab1, thanks for the offer. I'll PM you to see if we can set up a time.

What ever you do, stay away from "Fastclassics" " Searspointclassics" and remember, "Early 911's don't make oil pressure".
