What would you choose?

black 85 RoW cab, 60k w/ lsd or an cassis red 88 coupe w/100k. I'm thinking of looking at a friends 88 and am torn what to do. If I buy it, I will sell my cab as I don't need to have 3 Porsches (he's selling the 88 coupe as he has a 89 Coupe, 88 targa and a 88 M491 that he is buying). My cab has no ac as the compressor is dead, whereas the 88 has good working ac and the G50. I have driven his targa and it seemed slower than my cab. I have not driven the coupe that is for sale. What would you do? Could you also live with cassis red?

Opinions here. I have a black '84 Cab, chipped, Bilsteins & larger T-Bars, removed AC, etc. Similar boat as you.

1) I have no issues with Cassis. I believe it's a rare color, and I think would grow on you.

2) Generically, "G50" is slightly overrated I think, compared to a good 915. It's a placebo worst case, but it is something different to consider. Repairs will be more costly for that "upgrade".

3) Coupe. Yeah, I like the lines of the coupe a lot better than the Cab. I think I'd drive my 911 a lot more (rain, etc.) if I had a coupe. AC hasn't really been anything I NEEEEEEED, but would be nice a few weeks per year for me. I'd track the car more too, with a coupe. However, there is NOTHING in the world like driving a 911 Cab on a beautiful day. Nothing.

Since you have a Cab, if you're of the mind, acquire the '88, drive it for a couple of months, then jump back into your Cab - sell the one you like the least at that point. You'll have lived with both long enough to make an informed decision for YOU.

EDIT:
Dude, you're in Hawaii. Cab. All the way.

Good luck!

I think in Hawaii - I would keep the cab - unless you have skin cancer. I personally could not live with Sephia Brown or Cassis. I have a friend with a Barney color 965 - It has almost 26,000 miles because he's too embarrased to drive it.
