Distributor and year question
Hello all,
If anyone is technically inclined enough.... I just pulled my distributor and the number is 0231 169 003 which I found is used on a 1972 911T engine. Why would it be installed on my 1975 911 ROW engine? I understand it doesn't have as agressive advance curve as some 1973-1976 engines. Any harm involved in using it? I have a stock 2.7 1975 ROW engine which I have installed webers on but wanted to install Pertronix. Engine runs poorly at transition stage...lower rpm's but I think is more related to weber setup and really kicks in past the transition stage. Thanks |

Assuming that someone (previous owner) has changed distributors (why?...is the unknown variable) and you now have installed Carbs ...I would suggest you take/send the distributor to someone that can put it on a distributor machine and plot the advance curve.
That way you know exactly what you have to work with and if it may need 'tweaking' to fit your application.
