Pedal Clusters

Does anyone know the differences among the years for pedal clusters. The parts catalog seems to show various components differing in say 1974/75/76 with most parts being the same from 77-88 or sometimes 76-88.

What I'd like to know is whether the whole pedal cluster from a later year is plug 'n play into a a 1973 car... or whether you are limited to just rebuilding the one in the car itself.

I assume nothing with a booster is going to work http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/388548-pedal-cluster-model-differences-help.html?highlight=pedal+cluster

You're right about the later clusters for the boosted cars. If I were you, I'd rebuild the one you have. There were lots of little changes, particularly to the clutch cable and arm. You are already fighting a clutch cable issue with the later trans, why make it more complicated?

AFAIK (which is to say that I have not actually done it), you could use a '74 to '76 pedal assembly which would give you a non-power brake pedal like you have, but gain the clutch helper spring for an easier push (if you so desire).

yes, why make it more complicated. sage advice.

yet, the allure of of just a quick R&R appeals...

I thought the helper springs started in '77??

If you are thinking of the omega shaped spring at the tranny, that did start in 1977 model year cars.

There are two helper springs, an extension spring on the clutch pedal (started in '74) and the additional omega spring at the trans (started in '77).
