84 911 3.2 DME Relay - Remove and Reseat to Start 911

I have this new problem with my 84 3.2 Carrera.....

After sitting parked for 4-6 hours, it will not turn over. In order to get it to turn over, I have to remove the DME Relay, then re-seat it in the socket. Once I do that, the engine starts just fine.

It is like having a hidden kill switch in the car, but frankly, it is getting to be a bit annoying.

I have a 911Chips chip in DME installed about four months ago, and replaced the DME Relay and Fuel Pump Relay with new ones the first time this happened. After about two days, the problem started all over again....

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

The next thing I'd do would be to check the DME relay socket. Cracks? Clean contacts? Loose wires?

do you by chance have an aftermarket alarm? I don't think the dme relay is connected to your starter.

+1 on the DME socket. I once had to repair some loose connections there once.

+3 on the socket,..at least, as a first step. .... relay socket contacts, wire connection integrity, etc.

Best,
