I can't find that thread on repairing or replacing the Carrera front condensor fan...
I have mine out. It was frozen. I lubed it with PB Blaster for a few days. It turns, but the internal spring clip holder thingys seem to work against each other. And, my squirrel cage has a miniature allen set screw holding it to the shaft? That's a rough one.
Take me to the original thread, please, and tell me why the springs work against each other. I would think a free wheeling shaft is needed. I'll do anything I can, but after a week of lubing and turning with the one spring clip off, you would think I'd have a fan that will work. It's not going to work the way it is. |

OK, I finally found what i was looking for:
Carrera replacement heater blower (long) It was started in 2003, so I guess I wasn't looking at the search results correctly. I have a very tight front condenser motor and I don't see much info on fixing these or relpcing them with a generic. I might start a new thread. Oh, and stupid me, I was spelling *condenser* wrong. (see title) That didn't help. |

Milt, there was a thread a week or so ago about how the condensor fan motor is almost identical to the footwell blower motor. So far no one has come up with a generic substitute.

I think that's what was mentioned in the link above. The old 2003 thread was revived. Just looking at the footwell unit and the front condenser motor doesn't give me the feeling they are that close.
But you're right, I was looking for the thread of a week or so ago (even if it was revived) where someone said the squirrel cage was a press fit. Maybe they were talking about the footwell unit again. The A/C unit up front has an Allen set screw on the collar. So faI haven't been able to do anything with this motor AFA repair. It looks great, nice and clean, but it's stiff. I've soaked the bushings with PB and all that. No dice. |
