Need source for this part
 

Would anyone know where I could get this part? My car is an '89. Part has a major crack in it and is leaking.

It's the small rubber piece to the right of oil fill section (cap). It has a different diameter at both ends. Pelican says they don't have it.

Is it, in fact, a common piece that can be sourced from somewhere else?

just order it new from the dealer. anything used is just as likely to crack upon install, or already be worn.
oil and rubber don't mix well, so these parts wear out from exposure to oil and heat

I was considering the dealer as a last, but quite viable, source...

Any of the major Porsche parts places can order dealer parts for you. I found that their wholesale discount often allows them to sell you the same part as the dealer for less money. So order it along with other stuff you need, and you'll save money. Pelican should be able to get it for you. If not, then pm me and I'll send you an alternate source.

I wrapped mine with a few layers of self-fusing rubber tape. Seems to be working for now.

Isn't that the restrictor that mounts on the oil tank vent tube opening? I have not been able to see any really decent pictures of the part in the diagrams, but the number is 930 107 289 00. If you look at that part number at PP it shows several other names that people have used for the search, and it seems like this might be the part. Good luck!! Tony.

I thought the restrictor referred to was the brass cone that went inside the breather tube. You can't tell by the diagram though.

Rusnak: Definitaley NOT the restrictor. Never seen it in the diagram provided (as Pelican idicated...I'll try looking up the part # provided by 3.2CAB.

It would appear that OEM-93010728900 is, in fact, the restrictor. Although not well demonstrated in the diagram, the restrictor goes into a different tube altogether (at least, the restrictor I had to reinstall when changing out hoses awhile back).

I'm looking for (what appears to be) rubber connecting hose (different diameters at EACH end), NOT the restrictor).

It would appear that OEM-93010728900 is not the part indicated in my photo.

Look again at the diagram I posted. The part number of "restrictor" is the part number provided. I was saying that "restrictor" goes inside the crankcase breather tube.

You are going to have a hard time ordering the part without a part number. It's a dealer part. I can't advocate ordering something from some place other than Pelican on the board. We are coming to the point where I can't help you therefore....

Yes,..I understand that it will be hard to order a part without a part #..all I have will be the pic (or interfacing with my wrench?),..I just wanted to try the group first. And to the group, I am thankful for ALL inputs.

I know that you can't advocate any other source than Pelican. I would be as respectful as you in this regard.

This "point" we're coming to is quite fine,..as I think I'm (and everyone else) is out of answers here.....sounds like it's dealer time to me.

Lowe's had it in the plumbing aisle. Our local hardware carries something similar also, though it's called "Tommy Tape" and is silicone-based instead of rubber based. Both work great. The rubber stuff seems to be a bit more 'structural' that the silicone stuff.

It seems to me the thing it connects to is just a PCV valve ... I've thought of just replacing the OEM PCV valve with a different one that won't require the use of that weir dual-diameter rubber hose bit ... anyone ever try this?

I just came back from the shop and finally took a look at my 911 (it's all torn apart right now, trying to weld the mag fan housing).

This one is too easy. SLODAVE is right. it's the pipe going to the ambient air valve. The second part number that he lists is the plastic valve. The first one is the rubber pipe that you show in the close up.

Buuut, Pelican says no longer available. If you gotta do a patch job, you might wanna try JB Weld, then Gorilla Tape. Both are available at Orchard Supply Hardware.

I should mention that wrapping with tape works best if the rubber hose bit is removed first. Dremel or side-cutter the crimp-clamps, and it pulls right off. Then wrap with lots of tape and reinstall with hose clamps. Attempts to wrap it in-situ ended in child-inappropriate language for me.
