a-arm bushing

orderd and put on the weltmiester plastic bushings on my 74 even after reading about the road noise they were supposed to transfer. well i have more than road noise, they are poping and grinding over every little bump. it sounds like the whole front end is falling out. very annyoing and embarresing. they went on very easy, no problems. but i cant live with this. and yes i greased them up with the recomended lube. what else can i do? i know the rubber bushings are not avaiable unless you get the whole arm (am i correct on that?) any info please

Don,

You need to get the ID of the Bushes (after mounting in the carrier) to fit smoothly with the OD of the control arms.

This thread has some good info (and after you read it, you may decide that Polybronze is the way to go): Suspension bushing, the right way

And some further thoughts here: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/219840-front-polygraphite-bushings-post1903039.html

I remember reading an article in Excellence several years ago, in which the subject car had the rubber a-arm bushings replaced with new rubber bushings. I can't recall which company did the work. Maybe Smart Racing, or some other place. I've been contemplating the poly bronze setup, but I think that's not practical for the lousy roads that I drive on.

If I am not mistaken, Smart Racing is one and Elephant Racing is another to get rubber into the A-Arms.
