Window Adjustments on a SC Cab?

The passenger side window on my SC Cab will not go down all the way. I've got the panel off and have studied the manual on adjustments but cannot figure out how to just get it to come down farther without affecting the up position. I just need to extend the down stop position. I assume that the one adjustment is just designed to modify the upper stop position and will not affect the overall travel of the mechanism.

Any ideas?

There is a separate down stop. It is not nearly as obvious as the up stop. You need an allen wrench the same size as for the up stop. It is accessible through the big oval hole at the bottom, and you have to reach up in from the back. I can't remember very clearly, but I think you have to either raise the window all the way, or lower it almost all the way to get to it.

But, then again, I also remember that the very early SC Cabs had windows that wouldn't roll down all the way. Not sure if it was an early design thing, or if they were just delivering them with them adjusted high.

I would have agreed that the windows do not roll down the whole way except that my drivers side rolls donw fine and is entirely out of the way while the passengers side extends more than 3" above the door.

Thanks, I will take a look.

Same with mine (driver's side all the way down, passenger side leaves 1.5"). Please let me know if you can adjust it....I've always assumed that was just the way it was.

hmm, must be something with the early cabs - my 83 driver side goes flush, the passenger about 1 1/2 inches up - let us know what you find - good luck

Looking at the manual, it appears the cabs have different window adjustments than the coupes, but it seems odd that the passenger side window would not go all the way down?

Same

My '83SC does the same... Driver's side goes all the way, passenger side up about 1&1/2" up.

Sounds very common.

Fortunately it doesn't bother me, I'll never have to sit there.

It appears this may be part of the design on both the Cab's and Targa's. I have heard from about 6 owners that they have the same issue/feature. Doesn't bother me but I have had two separate passenger seat riders point it out?

Resurrecting this post. I have the same problem with my 83 Cab. The driver window goes down all the way, the passenger window sticks up about an inch. Mine is #830 so it is in the middle of the US manufacturing run. I removed the door panel and regulator to check it. Everything seemed fine so I cleaned and relubricated with teflon grease. After reassembly (what a pain!) I layed on my back with a flashlight and worked the window. It turns out that the fixed bottom stop was preventing the window from retracting all the way. The stop has a metal clamp holding a piece of plastic. I removed the stop completely for a test and found the window retracts completely. After testing many times to make sure it worked I decided to leave the stop off. I am not sure what is acting as the stop now but it seems to work properly.

I do not know if this regulator and stop are original. Someone had been in the door panel before as the plastic vapor barrier had been removed once. I wonder if there were different stops and or regulators for the 83 cabs that, when replaced, were different?

cheers,
Michael

This just in! I pulled out my 911 SC Cabriolet Sales Brochure - the big one with a red cab on the cover. It turns out that in every photo with the passenger window rolled down, the front edge sticks up about 1" and the back edge is fully retracted. The driver's side is completely retracted front and back! Surely there was a tech note or something on this?

cheers,
Michael

cab83_750...ditto, mine both go out of sight. I haven't seen many 83 cabs in my area so this is news to me.

It is very odd that the Porsche marketing brochure shows cars with the passenger window not completely rolled down. It is very obvious in the photos, not the kind of thing they would overlook and they could have air brushed them out but did not.

My passenger side sticks up just a bit in the front but doesn't go any higher than the rubber squeegee.....all the way down on the driver's....
