Mixing Crankfire Igntion
I have an Electromotive HPX system currently installed in my 3.0 and I'm planning to dual plug during next rebuild. Electromotive wants to sell me a brand new unit for dual plug, but I know I can add another 3 coils with a signal splitter. Trouble is finding a used HPX unit isn't easy. I do have access to EM's HPV1 which is their first generation Distributorless ignition (some say its more reliable, though my HPX has never been a prob). Anyone ever have experience with combining systems?
The control panel is similar, but HPX adds a few extra features that I really don't use/need.

You might have better luck selling the HPX and finding another HPV1 to use, they seem to come up a lot more often.

You can't really just add three coils, you need a three channel ignitor to fire the new set of coils. The ignitor is built into the HPV board.
When setting up twin igniton with the HPV and HPX you just split the signal from the crank trigger.

Yup... that's what I figured. You need the whole 3 coil board for the setup. From what I read, the rev limiters are a bit different.
