I have a 1981 porsche 911 sc. I’m having problems with my cable throttle and the rpm gauge. The cable throttle seems to be very sensitive. Any slight movement of the cable and the engine starts to idle and my rpm gauge seems to be turning on and off at times. What gives?

Isn't there an air valve or throttle bypass on the '81 SC? I have a 1970 914-6 with a sensitive throttle lever. I'd rather have the lever, because at least you have some measure of adjustment. I usually do foot throttle blips, and then go to the hand throttle only if absolutely needed.

I would check the bushing at the pedal cluster. My cable had eaten through the plastic bushing and halfway through the metal arm. A bronze bushing and pedal cluster rebuild fixed it.
