1979 sc tires bridgestone potenza g00o directional tread

The tread pattern has a center section that is somewhat veed and one shoulder has a section different than the other. The mounting instructions on one sidewall require that the tire be mounted "this side out." There are no left and rights for this tire so the outcome is that on one side of the car the v is pointed ahead and the other back. It looks odd and appears that the tire will perform differently on one side than the other. I'm told that the tire is designed to run both ways on the same car and the "this side out" is because that outside has different shoulder characteristics which should be maintained. What's the deal?

sounds just like my new Bridgestone 050A Pole Position "this side out".

don't know about that center "V" as I never noticed.
