I hear ya ... I could be wrong but I think that 911s require a lot of their batteries. Even the slightest battery fault will cause problems. I was also under the impression that the battery is drawn upon from time to time during normal vehicle operation. Again, I could be wrong.

Update:
I had the battery checked at autozone and it check out good I removed the alternator and inspected the wiring; the black coming off the alternator and being grounded to the block was old, exposed and somewhat brittle. I replaced it and reinstalled the alternator. I took the car to autozone and had them run a check on it--it checked out good. It was putting out 13.7 volts and passed all of the test cycles. I normally do not drive the car often as I am in the middle of an interior upgrade, but will be taking it to work for the next couple of weeks. Big thanks to the follow pelicanites that provided suggestions and feedback. On another note: In an earlier post, I mentioned that On the solenoid, there was yellow wire with blue strip and a plain yellow wire. One thing I noticed was that there was a black wire spliced into the yellow wire prior to it being attached to the solenoid Turns out that these black wires lead back to a push button starter in the engine compartment. PO (or someone he had work on the car) must have installed it. HOwever, they did a terrible job. The wire was not long enough so they patched it--10g connected to 12g connected back to 10g. I may not be dead on with the guages, but I think you get the picture |
