carbs on cis heads? - What about the injector notch?

I am going to be installing carbs on 2.7 CIS heads in the near future. I trial fitted the manifolds today and noticed a problem - there is a gap where the injector notch is in the intake that my manifolds do not cover. I plan to build some phenolic spacers unless someone has a better idea...

What have others done?

I've done it. Picked through my mechanics gaskets until I found one that covered the injector notch. Has been fine for years.
