Location of fuel pump relay?
Have searched forum, Haynes and Pelican (below link) for exact location of FP relay with no success. Even the fusebox cover diagram does not specify. Any help appreciated- car stalls, have replaced DME with no improvement...

You don't say what car you have but, since you have a DME and I assume when you say you replaced the DME you mean DME relay, you replaced the relay that controls the fuel pump.

Thanks-- to clarify, have replaced DME RELAY on 87 Carrera but stalling problem persists. Have a new red fuel pump relay but am mystified as to exactly where it goes. Pelican diagram indicates it belongs in some unspecified spot on 'relay row' above the fuses, but the chart on fusebox cover doesn't mention fuel pump relay...

On an 87 Carerra the fuel pump relay is part of the DME relay located under the drivers seat. If you have already replaced it with a known good one your problem must be somewhere else.
Sorry, I don't know what you should be checking next, but others with more expertise will hopefully chime in.

when the dme relay goes out, the car won't run at all.
I think the stumbling problem can be a number of things. I'd get a copy of the Bentley Manual for the 3.2 Carrera. There is a helpful table that will give you a checklist of items to test. In the meanwhile, I'd clean the ground points on the engine compartment wall, intake runner, and the luggage compartment. I'd also charge up the battery and clean the battery contacts. You'd be surprised how many cars get electrical problems related to dirty electrical contacts. Next, focus on vacuum leaks. Lots of threads on this subject. Common sources of leaks are the intake manifold gaskets, rubber hoses, and o-ring for the idle adjustment screw. The Bentley manual has a nice troubleshooting guide, and a second book "Bosch Fuel Injection and Engine Management" has a very excellent explanation of the workings of the dme system and fixing common problems with them. Thanks men- i understand... Had searched forum previously and read the 1st things to check for stalling are DME and fuel pump relays and to carry spares-- Adding to the confusion was a part # on Pelican and at Porsche dealer for FP relay for '87

i have a 1990 911 which just started having fuel related problems. It was running fine then suddenly its difficult to start and cuts out when driving. Also when i try to crank it over it wont idle and cuts out. I just ordered a new DME relay and a fuel filter after reading other peoples forum. Any other thoughts ? thanks
