Two questions - switch & part #

First - while replacing the hi/low beam switch I dropped a little screw into the opening on top of the wiper switch. It's one of those real small screws - didn't feel like pulling it all apart to fish out. I tried the wiper and it worked fine. Put it all back - happy that I was able to accomplish the replacement of other switch - but, after getting on the road I found that the wipers didn't work!
Do you think the screw may have shorted out the entire wiper switch - or possibly cooked the fuse? I'm going to go back over everything now.

Also - the metal plate - square - that slips over the sterring shaft - acts almost like a dust shield - the horn plate goes over that then the wheel back on. It would be the 3rd part to come off when removing the wheel. does anyone know the correct part # or name of the plate (held with 4 tiny screws at the corners). Or does anyone have an extra?

It went back together ok without it, but it bugs me!

Thx.

answer to above

it was a simple blown fuse! so, instead of $120 for a new switch i put out $1.99 for a bunch of extra fuses - not bad.
still hunting that plate answer though.

Screw could have (probably) shorted it. If fuse pops again, you'll need to get it out.

Rod w/ magnet might do it.
