Seat Covers NOT upholstery
Anyone have any experience with seat covers for 911 comfort seats that are reasonably priced and well fitting?
I would like to cover the split seat bottoms on my 74 until I raise the funds for a proper reupholstery job. tnx all |

Cost-effective - The material cost of the fabric seats is significantly lower than leather, making them more pocket-friendly for the end customer as well.
In case of replacement too, they will be cheaper to buy. Wide choice of materials - There are many types of cloth available and an infinite amount of design patterns possible. Less sensitive to extreme heat or cold - Fabric upholstery will not be as temperature sensitive as leather. Get in the car on an extremely hot or cold day and you will find these seats much more temperature neutral to sit on than leather ones. |

Ray40 - sounds like you just want to cover up a tatty seat, right? I agree that using a fabric to hide the existing rips/tears for a temporary fix would be ok. I’ve covered many of old torn vinyl seats using upholstery fabric to match as close as possible. Having someone with sew machine know-how can match stitching and any patterns was a plus. That said, I’d visit either a fabric store or mom & pop furniture upholstery shop, who (depending how inclined, if you can dissemble the seat(s) and/or the damaged bottom cushion) could measure/cut a pattern and stitch up a cover way cheaper than a OEM replacement at a dedicated auto uph shop. Fabric upholstery can be as cheap as $10 yd maybe even lower.
As for universal full slip on covers (the cheapest method) I don’t know of any and this out of the box approach of trying out every available brand would be a task that might not look to great, but with some work maybe these could be fitted by attaching to the existing old upholstery but would require taking seats out. |

I have tried to look for a company that can make seat covers for my 1974 911 I have the tall backseats with the side bolsters that set up but I don’t think these are the deeper sports seats and I have not been able to find a company That makes seat covers to fit the older air cooled Porsches I’m really surprised that “cover King” company that sells seat covers through pelican parts does not have a line of seat covers that will fit all of the older air cooled Porsches I just looked on the cover king add again and when you put in 1974 that’s as far as you can get. Looks like to me pelican parts could urge that company to make available seat covers to fit the older Porsches from 1965 to 1978.

I guess it hinges around what you mean by reasonably priced? I know that Lakewell quality is good and does seem reasonably priced to me.

I looked for some a couple of years ago and did not find any to my liking. I ended up just sitting on the tattered seats until I could afford to buy a proper restoration kit from Lakewell.
Having said that, check out the sheepskin covers on Amazon or from other vendors. They can usually be bought for less than $100 a seat, but at that price the sizing will be more generic that Porsche specific.

Im also surprised covercraft or any other supplier never actually made a inexpensive but durable temporary seat cover as a protective measure besides the sheep wool or fleece styles. They carry Carhartt cloth canvass covers for pickups and jeeps, yet these are not a form fitting and look rather frumpy…and they’re quite pricey +$200 depending on veh.
I would like to have a form fitted set of heavy canvass covering and protecting my leather seats as a ‘just in case’ someone sits down with a screwdriver in the back pocket or grimy pants. Many good shops will use simple thin plastic temporary seat covers, that’s ok for dirt and grime. Seems that getting a template of the original seat pattern then cut and sew them is the only route, if it were me. But then again I also tucked a long towel into the seat folds, basically wrapping the ripped seat up because of the glue from the duck tape fix was a mess ! |

And WeatherTech doesn't make floor liners for F and G 911's either. You would think there would be a decent market for them, since the floors are essentially unchanged for 30+ years

Thanks for the suggestions everyone and agree that it seems odd that someone is not making decent canvas covers available. oh well- I suppose I just need to go for the new leather covers sooner than I hoped

I had Wet Okoles on my 88 Cab with sport seats. Worked great for me.

Why not throw a little extra 80s flair in there with a beaded seat cover?
