Sunday's Odd Jobs

Lovely afternoon and so after watching the end of Le Mans, I decide to do a few odd jobs on the car.

THE HORN

I posted that my horn had stopped working, and following Boxerfan's post, I removed the horn and cleaned everything. Tested the wires at the horn and they had power when the horn was pressed. The horn worked when connected to a battery, so loose connection assumed. Reassemble and all is well.

THE INDICATORS

I jumped on to Martin's (mrg3.6) post as he has the same issue of US indicator units and Euro lenses, so when the bulb flashes the amber indicator and the white part of the lens light up. No photos here, as I fudged a piece of card with foil on it bewteen the lens and the unit, to keep the light out of the white section of the lens.

Does anyone have a set of dividers or know where to buy them, as amber bulbs are not an option as the bulb is 21/5W

THE DRIVERS FOOTWELL

I had been meaning to remove my new carpet and Southbound fabricated rubber mats for some time to clean up the floor area. I used a soaking of metal ready to remove any brown marks (not really rust) from the area and it is now nice and clean. I will remove the pedal box over winter and paint the floor with POR15 (I only ahve silver though) - pedal box is fine with bronze bushes, but the pedals could do with a repaint (in situ as I do not want to strip the pedal box down).

THE DDK BADGE

Bought this a while ago and finally got round to fitting it. Used a coupe of washers under the engine lif grill to spread the forces out, and didn't tighten too tight. In alignment with the 2.4 badge - great.

Now ready for a few more miles and then it is the Silverstone Classic and Track Day.

Ian
