Need Float Setting - Zenith 40TIN Carbs

Hello - Yes, I've done a search here, no cigar. I need the spec's for setting the float level on my 2.2 carbs. They are the Zenith 40-TIN model. Thanks much......

Thanks Jim -I can work with this. I already have them apart and on the bench. I was hoping someone had a measurement from the bottom of the float to the gasket surface of the carb. Thanks again...

Bob -

Glad to help. I'm thinking that when I have a bit more time I should scan that complete doc into a .pdf for Wayne.

As I recall, the float-to-gasket-surface dimension is not adjustable; the float pivots fit into their mounts and are screwed down. All adjustment of float/fuel level is done with the brass washers under the needle/seat. At least that's what my memory says....

Jim is correct, you adjust using the tool and adding or deleting shims.

Got it all figured out. I work on motorcycles so much, I was thinking I could bend one of those "Tang" thangs to adjust. I now see that's not the case. Almost the the 1st set cleaned and ready to go back on.

Be sure and measure the float weight. They absorb gas and sink.

Best,
Grady

Thanks Grady, I'll be sure to weight the floats.

I now find a ham-fisted previous owner over-tightened one of the long Idle-jets and broke it. Any ideas on where to shop for parts for these carbs? (I think it's the idle jet, it's the one about 1.5 inches long just below the float drain plugs?)
