Getting to my horns...help!

My horns are dead (I suspect they are also killing my battery, will confirm with a relay removal test).

The relay is clicking properly, the "87" wire is getting voltage, but I am having a huge pain getting to the horns themselves to check the wiring/horns directly.

Bentley says to remove the fog light, then remove the bumper lights, then baffle bolts then the bumper bolts - I can't even get the fog light off without needing to cut wire (the manual alludes to convenient sounding plugs), and there are no accessible screws holding my turn-signal buckets in light the manual seems to demonstrate - I have plastic covering what should be a screw on the other side, Iwhich I have been chiseling away to no avail.

Is going through the headlight light bucket an option? Are there other shortcuts besides bolting something loud and aftermarket to the roof

Thanks,
-Todd

Eh? I replaced the sole remaining stock trumpet on my '77 when it died with a pair of 993 horns (lighter, cheaper, sound nice), including fitting a bracket and a short conversion harness (the 993 horns have a waterproof connector instead of spades) working between the wheel and the fender by turning the steering to about 1/3 left lock while parked. Took about 20 minutes. Loadsa room.

My oil cooler lives there unfortunately.

BUT I did figure it out - I jacked up the front of the car a little, looked up and saw the mounting
bracket. I made a very long ratchet extension with the 13mm socket and took both bolts out and
got both horns.

I confirmed the wiring was okay, but both horns were not responding to direct battery testing.

...and I ran down to the local Kragen to pick up one of these horns:

http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?MfrCode=WLO&MfrPartNumber=3852T&CategoryCode=3074

I only bought 1, it seems plenty loud. I used the original mount too, might be able to place a second on the mount too if one is not loud enough.

I might get one for the motorcycle too.

I suspect my horn was stuck "on" at the steering wheel (fixed that) but silent, and chewing up the battery.

Little point using two identical horns. Because they'll both be the same note

The factory used two horns of different frequencies, one high, one low. The resultant harmonic was selected to be pleasant, yet penetrating.

A harmonic is a louder, fuller sound than two individual notes. Just saying.

True, 2 identical horns is only louder - Wolo has both a "HIGH" and "LOW" version identical size but different tones. The single "extra loud HIGH" I went with seems to be enough.
