Anyone need their Bilstein struts powder coated in LA?

I'm getting my struts powder coated with some John Deere Green powder coat in the LA area. I have a bunch extra so if anyone wants in I would be welcome to share my powder and we could save on the color setup. Will probably be somewhere around $30 for the pair. Locals only please.

Well, I'm in the LA area..when and where. Was that about $30 complete? What about media blasting, should I take care of that ahead of time??

You will need to get new seals from Bilstein for the tops of the struts. These need to be removed before the powder coat and the inside of the strut body degreased. The seals are $26 for the pair. Price includes blasting. Also, the $30 is a guestimate. may be less or more depending on how many we get. somewhere between $25 and $50 for the pair. I'm in Hollywood. Alternatively you could drop them off at the powder coater in the Valley. You can ship them to me if you like I just don't want to deal with return shipping so you would need to pick them up. I'll probably take them in at the end of next week.

whackit,
I see you covered the seals topic, but how does the heat during powder coating affect the shock internals?

Not trying to put this down, just curious on how this process affects the shock as I am assuming it is charged (pressurized) with all internals intact during the process. Any reason why a good paint job wouldn't be as good.

You have to remove the insert. Then it is just a steel tube with two steel bushings in it.

On another note. i don't think you will have to replace the seals. I popped mine out and they seem no worse for the wear.

Powder coat is always better than paint!
