Engine Detail Tip - PIG SPIT!?!
I have a buddy who is big into vintage Mustangs who told me about this stuff. I understand bikers love it. He gave me a can so I could try it out and I must say, I’m pretty impressed. To begin with my engine looked pretty decent and was clean but this stuff really set it off. This stuff gives everything a nice new shine. All of the plastic, connectors and wires look great. It says that it’s safe for just about all surfaces. I just thought I would pass on an engine appearance tip for you.
Note: The pics show my engine the day after I applied it. Everything is dry and no oily residue. What do you think? Dont bash me too bad! I think I'm going to keep using it. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1213834099.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1213834117.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1213834134.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1213834153.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1213834171.jpg |
If it has silicone in it (like Armour All) you are going to dry out all your plastic and rubber pieces. Go to carcareonline.com and read why silicone is the scourge of autos.
BTW, very nice looking engine bay you got there! |
It is shiny, but not "like new" - the parts would not have been that shiny when new.
|
I read that it does not contain silicone
'the' - I didn’t really say "Like new" but I know where your coming from - obviously I’m not going for the 'original look' |
I think your engine looks fabulous! Then again, I too am a biker.

looks great

I think the PO did something similar to my bay. I would be curious as to your thoughts about the long term perspective if you could post back in a few months.

That is Awsome Super Dave!!! Looks Clean and Loved

For a minute there I thought you said pig s**t. That'd be nasty on a hot engine! Whew!
|
!!!! Nice !!!!

Damn! Your engine looks nice... pig spit or not!

Interesting to see if the finish yellows with age, or can it be removed with mineral spirits... I e-mailed PigSpit customer service and asked if the product contained silicone, no answer as of yet.
|
How does it works?
|
Damn!
That is one clean engine...Nice! |
a before pic would have helped. Was that for the plastic only, or did you hit the entire engine area?

I would be interested in seeing how this holds up. I'm pretty sure this is different, but the stuff that car dealers use drys out, turns yellow and looks like peeling clear coat over time.

After seeing what Pig Spit did on Super Daves engine, I decided to purchase a can of spit and try it on my Fuchs.
Apparently there is similar product that has been out for some time now by Mark V called Lustre Shield. Pretty much does the same thing. Competition is good for the consumer! I didn't bother to wash the Fuchs just wiped them down to see how it would turn out. Now I'll have to test to see which product lasts the longest. Here's a before and after shot of my Fuchs and Whale Tail. http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...gSpitFuchs.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...SpitFuchs2.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...tWhaleTail.jpg |
The wheels look good. Keep us updated!
