Rota Fox in Diamond Blue

As we all know the selection of great tires in 15" sizes is almost non existent. I wanted to be able to have a better selection of tires and more rubber on the road without breaking the bank. Another decision was to stay as close to the look that I already had with color matching wheels that were part of the 1988 Commemorative Edition package. This is what I started with

I started with the Rota primed wheels. I used aircraft stripper to remove the primer to get ready to polish the lips.

The stripper is very nasty stuff

This is the results of the stripper. Ready to be polished.

Just back from the polisher. Had to be sanded to remove the machine polish.

And they are back from the painter. Need to wait for the paint to cure for a few more days before mounting the tires. Couldn't be happier the way they turned out. Will have pictures later in the week with them on the car.

+1! They're beautiful. If I hadn't grown to really love the black centers on my GPW, I'd attempt to color-code my Rota Foxes too.

Very nice Michael! I'm still "stuck" with the 15" DB wheels, and I'm probably on my last set of tires before I have a decision to make .

Thanks guys for all the compliments!!

Here are the weights of the wheels.

17x9

17x7.5

And just a couple of better shots before the tires go on

This is a shot of the 15x8" Fuchs wheel to compare how the rims look alike. Looks pretty close to the same profile.

And a 15x7 Fuchs

Very nice looking. May I ask a question though... Why didn't you buy something like polished lips and semi-gloss black petals and just scuff sand the petals then paint?

Jeff one set was enough, can't wait to see the forged wheels

Michael:The pictures of your car look great and here are a few pictures of the wheels on the car.

Mark: When they first were saying that there would be unfinished wheels I thought they would be un-primered and Subydude site said they would be unfinished. They came prepped for paint. I also didn't want the machine polish lips. The polisher had to sand the lips with a DA sander and then polish. He charged $100. Both the polisher and the painter said not to paint the polished lips, paint won't stick to them. When I got these they didn't have smooth polish only machine polish.

On to a few shots of the wheels. Went for a 40 mile drive and it was better then I could have imagined. Ride was not nearly as rough as the OLD OLD Yoko AVSi 15"s. The wife even commented on how much better the ride was. Will have a few more pictures from the side that are still on the camera.

Front turn in on the corners was so much better. Can't wait to try some faster corners.

Before

After
