Setting Rev Limit on Electromotive HPX
I'm running my 3.0 on a twin plug HPX system, but cannot find any mention in the handbook as to how to actually set the rev limit. Setting the advance is wonderfully easy, using my VOM on the supplied "ground" and "advance" terminals. There is, however, no "rev limit" terminal.
Each dial has a graduated scale. I found the dials to be extremely sensitive when setting the initial, 3,000 and 8,000 rpm advance. That, and the numbers shown on the dials do not coincide with the actual voltage readings I was getting. The rev limit dial has no marks between 6,000 and 9,000 rpm. With as sensitive as I found the advance curve dials to be, I don't want to just "eyeball" the rev limit dials. I think I could easily be +/- 500 rpm from where the dial appears to be, and could easily have the upper and lower plugs cutting out at different rpm's. I would hate to think of what could happen if it was running as a single plug up towards the rev limit because one set cut out sooner. Anyway, anyone know how to set the rev limit with my VOM? Is it possible? Which terminals would I use? |
Jeff,
