KW camber plates

Since I haven't added much of value to this forum lately, why not do a new thread.

I previously had the eBay camber plates. The bearings in them disintegrated pretty quickly, so I replaced them with slightly fancier bearings which lasted a little longer, but started making noise again. Plus I broke some of the cheap cast pot metal as well.

Picked up a set of the KW camber plates. They're extremely high quality what appears to be billet aluminum. Also, unlike the other products on the market, the bearing sits flush with the top of the plate, so theoretically you can get more camber without that bearing boss running into the hole in the shock tower.

Of course they're designed to work with the KW coilovers. The fittings top and bottom are for the narrower shaft size of the KWs. Pop those out, and the Bilstein shaft fits right in. I used a small spacer to get the shock body away from the camber plate, otherwise you can run out of articulation.

One major problem: With the lower portion of the plate slid to the max camber position, the lower plate overhangs. It didn't even fit in my shock tower in this configuration. The witness mark there is where the shock body would hit without a spacer.

So a quick trip to the band saw and belt sander fixed that design flaw.

I can get the nut for the shock with just enough clearance for a socket to the edge of the hole in the tower, so a decent bit more camber than the eBay plates. We'll see how high of quality bearing KW specs, but they're standard parts held in with a circlip so easy peasy replacement.

Since the bearing is indeed mounted lower than the other options, you lose a little compression travel. I don't run my car slammed so I don't expect it to be an issue.

Plates made it through a hundred miles and 10 autocross runs without issue so far.

tl;dr NOT a drop in part for most people, but a really nice product with a little work.
