Braking system backdate

I am building a spec racer out of a '78 911 SC and I would like to find out what is involved in replacing the vacuum assist brakes with the early stlye brakes with no vacuum assist. Obviously I would need a different master cylinder, but what about the pedal cluster? Could I simply replace the brake pedal or would the entire cluster change?

I am just kicking this idea around and finding out what would be involved. My main reason is that the current setup is right where I would like to run some chassis stiffening tubes and it would also be nice to have the brakes completely independent of the other systems (engine).

Thanks,
Bob

Bob,

The easiest way to do this is by installing a '75 or older pedal cluster that relocates the manual MC.

How does the feel compare to the vacuum assisted brakes? Also, is the pedal cluster the same as in the 914-6? I ask because I have one of these laying around.

Thanks,
Bob

Just helped a friend backdate his braking on a 78 SC race car. You need to change the pedal cluster, manual MC, all the hard lines between the MC and the calipers/soft lines, brake switch, and the reservoir and reservoir feed lines. The brake feel is very progressive.
