Braking system backdate
I am building a spec racer out of a '78 911 SC and I would like to find out what is involved in replacing the vacuum assist brakes with the early stlye brakes with no vacuum assist. Obviously I would need a different master cylinder, but what about the pedal cluster? Could I simply replace the brake pedal or would the entire cluster change?
I am just kicking this idea around and finding out what would be involved. My main reason is that the current setup is right where I would like to run some chassis stiffening tubes and it would also be nice to have the brakes completely independent of the other systems (engine). Thanks, Bob |

Bob,
The easiest way to do this is by installing a '75 or older pedal cluster that relocates the manual MC.

How does the feel compare to the vacuum assisted brakes? Also, is the pedal cluster the same as in the 914-6? I ask because I have one of these laying around.
Thanks, Bob |

Just helped a friend backdate his braking on a 78 SC race car. You need to change the pedal cluster, manual MC, all the hard lines between the MC and the calipers/soft lines, brake switch, and the reservoir and reservoir feed lines. The brake feel is very progressive.
