3.2L Starter.
Is a starter replacement on a 3.2L a big job for a first timer?

No it is quite doable. There are several thread on here regarding the starter removal. Just make sure you wear something you don't mind getting real greasy.

1st time what.... starter, or 1 st time wrench in your hand ? If you have a working knowledge of how nuts and bolts "feel" no problem
Some find a partial eng. drop helpful ...(Sounds hard but EZ) Most use the bear hug method faster and ..dirtier The harder to reach bolt is actually a Allen nut ..maybe a 10 ? Just a side note if you have a way to wash it all off under there 1 st that would be a good thing and last of the most-- UNHOOK batt B4 doing the job !
