911sc rear decklid question

Someone put a turbo whale tail on my 79 911sc at some point. Right now when I open it I need to prop it with something. My question is what should be used to keep it open? Did they have a shock or spring of some kind? Does anyone have pics of their decklid set-up?

i use a carbon arrow for my prop. stock, there was a hood shock on the left side. tails are too heavy for it. some guys double up the shock, but there is some risk on cracking fiberglass tails.

Some cars have provision for a second shock on the right side.

I just put 2 on the left side w/ a longer bolt. Works fine.

You can use a dual shock set up on the left side. There is a kit for this. If you go this route I recommend using 2 used shocks since 2 new shocks puts a lot of strain on the hinge.

There is also a turbo rear deck lid shock that is a larger diameter.
