help - locate e-brake star wheel
This is a '73.5 T.
Try as I might, I cannot see the star wheel through the tiny brake inspection hole so I can adjust my e-brake. Can anyone tell me at what clock position the star wheel would be located so I can rotate the wheel to line it up with the inspection/adjustment hole? While I am at it, to tighten the e-brake cable using the barrel nut behind the brakes, should I be screwing the barrel nut so that the threads are disappearing from sight, or screwing the barrel nut so that more of the threads are appearing? Thanks for your help.

If I remember right, the star wheel is at the 3/9 oclock position depending on which side you are on. Pass side at 9 and drivers side at 3.
Because it is the same mechanism on both sides, just flipped, it is slightly higher than 9 on the passenger side and slightly lower on the drivers side IIRC. To tighten the cable, you want to 'tighten' the lock nut, that is, so you see more thread sticking out away from the brake mechanism. Make sure you check behind the e-brake lever to ensure the cables are pulling evenly. Just make sure the yoke that connects the lever to the two cables is perpendicular to the length of the car. Good luck.
