Convert to early 915 clutch arm?

So I put the engine in the car after a 2+year rebuild... The last thing to do was put the clutch arm and horseshoe spring on. Well they dont fit. the header pipe gets way in the way. I'll post a pic later, but I was wondering if there are different headers out there that may be configureed for late 915 clutch arms vs. early arms. It seems that this was an issue on these headers before as someone hammered out a nice divit there prior to my purchase.

Can I convert to the old style arm from the late style I have?

Best regards,

Michael

Yes you can. As you may know that to do this you need to remove the tranny from the engine and change to the older style clutch cable. BTW, you really
don't need the helper spring. I run mine without it.

HI Michael
you can change to the old type clutch release arm, but you will have find; the shaft in the bellhousing (shorter), lever arm, clutch cable, fittings for the end, and a clutch cable support bracket for the cable, some thing like this

how come the original bits do not fit, has the engine been fitted with SSI heatexchanges, as thay do require the flange tweeking a bit.

Hrmnnnn....

Well, my used $50 headers are turning out to be more of a $50 headache... The problem is that the lever arm conflicts with a header pipe and does not allow the spring to be moved around cross center. I may try it without the spring and see how it goes. Looks like changine it to an older style is more complicated then just slapping on the old arm.

I'll post pics later this eve and you guys can have a go at more sugestions

Best regards,

Michael

HI Daniel
I make the brackets for the backdating of the 915 box for historic rallying over hear, as you can see it over laps on to the gearbox casting for support, I would think you will have one of these;
