RSR fiberglass bumper

Can an RSR rear fiberglass bumper fit a 911S standard wheel flare.

I have been told it can be done, but i have also been advised it would not work. Before i begin to take off my rear bumper, i wanted to know if it will possibly fit.

Please advise if you have any experience on the subject.

PS...i already have a RSR bumper, but i have decided not to put on flares.

thanks jpc

Trade it for a non flared one. Too much work to try & fit it.

+1

I have a new Iroc style rear bumper (to fit SC/Carrera flares) that I may be willing to trade for the wide RSR one you have. If interested send me a PM and let me know the condition of your bumper

trades would be welcome, but i would need to trade to a width that would fit my car.

By the way, what is the difference between an RSR and IROC bumper....i thought they were the same.

one more question....is a RS for an earlier flares (like my 911S)?
RSR for SC flare sytle???

thanks jpc

A 911S has very little flare.
A '73 Carrera RS and a 911SC have a little larger flare and are similar in width.
A '73RSR, a '74 RS, an IROC car and a turbo have slightly larger flares yet and are similar.
A '74 RSR has the largest flares and is like nothing else.

I'm ignoring the 2.1 turbo RSR, 934 and 935, etc.

If you have the stock 76S flares you should just buy a new bumper, I believe Getty makes one that will work for you (Iroc style for narrow flare)

Cory,

I guess i need to measure and see what i actual have. I purchased the bumper about 20 months ago. I hope i purchased an RS or IROC style, if i did not. I would be interested in a trade.

thanks everyone for the info.

Just sit it under the back of the car & see how wide it is.

is it a factory rear bumper, or aftermarket?

Also, the RS & RSR rear bumpers have the center license plate/deck-lid seal panel and the 2bumperettes intergrated into them....typically for a 73 and earlier car

The IROC is different....it is just the bumper that sits below the reflector box and the tail lights.....typcially for a + 74 car

it would appear i have the RS bumper with the center license plate area.

Thanks for everyone help, i believe the RS will fit on my 911S. My mechanic said it would be possible to pull in the bumper to my S style body.

thanks jpc

we are the ones that make the narrow rear bumper (74-77 911S) - we have had it available for 5 years now. our mold, our design.
As others have posted above, trying to modify a RS/ Carrera flared bumper will just not work out and look decent.
Sorry, we don't take trades, but feel it is reasonably priced $300

Thanks
dave

I will definitely keep your bumper in mind. I have seen a 1968 911 fitted with an RS bumper that my mechanic installed a few years back. Its not a perfect fit, but it look pretty good.

I need to now make a decision on my next direction. If i decide to move forward, i will post results of my bumper being installed. (good or bad)

PS My mechanic was not aware of your bumper and had said yesterday that was my only option was to use the RS bumper for a S flare.

thanks jpc

This is the bumper i was referring to: G series iroc look for the 74-77 non flared rear end
The fit is VERY good, as opposed to the early R style rear bumpers
