Porsche VIN - unique? 1972 T,E,S?

Looking at purchasing a project 1972 Targa "barn" find... vin is 91125111xx

5th digit means T,E,or S
1 is at 911T
2 is a 911E
3 is a 911S

Whats a 5 mean? Is it Euro spec? desireable?

Car had a 911S owners manual, engine was fuel injected with a green shroud. Had full gauges. What is this car?

thanks!

It came orginally with carbs (vergaser).

A green shroud and fuel injection would suggest an E-motor but the engine case nr. should give a definite answer on that.

Alright... let see... here the scoop on the car...
1972 911 T Targa not currently running.. sitting for 3 years

vin# on the registration is 91121xxxx and 91125xxxxx once the owner can find a way to pop the hood we can match the vin and the current registration... either way its a 911T targa.

engine number is 6450xxx I guess that means its a 1975 911S engine... it has a green shroud.

car looks otherwise solid except for rust on the door bottoms (easier to get 2 donor doors) rockers at the jacking point is rusted thru, hood front has bubbling, rust thru at the tow loop at the front trunk area. otherwise car looks straight.... hasnt been run in three years... has Fuch wheels 15" and good targa top, also turbo whale tail. cars has steel SC flares are the rear...

what is this car worth?

I'd say the car is worth $3,000-$5,000. But rust at the jack points is a VERY BAD SIGN. And the '75 S engine isn't a plus either. If you love it, go for it. But check the windshield -- are the words "money pit" visible?
